Biostatistician and Audit Team Coordinator

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility is to serve as program lead for all aspects of the IHS Diabetes Care and Outcomes Audit for the Division of Diabetes Treatment and Prevention (DDTP) to include national data collection and reporting. This position reports to the Project Manager

 

Responsibilities and duties:

· Serves and provides guidance as the Diabetes Audit Team Coordinator which includes coordinating audit meetings and work groups, preparing documentation, and overseeing project websites.

· Coordinates development and maintenance of web-based software application to collect, process, and report Diabetes Audit data that is used annually by over 300 health care facilities.

· Guides and directs work of software developer, develops project specifications and documentation, test functionality of web-based system.

· Processes and analyzes data for the annual Diabetes Audit project using data from more than 125,000 people with diabetes.

· Prepares summary reports and data visualizations.

· Coordinates and provides Audit training and technical assistance for participating facilities annually.

· Provides guidance on data projects for grant programs that distribute funds annually to over 300 communities and health care facilities. Projects include use of web-based data system for collecting, processing, and reporting on required outcome measures.

· Consults on design of forms, data collection, presentation of data, organization of electronic files, database design and development, and statistical analysis.

· Utilizes the federal Data Warehouse to process and analyze data for reports as requested by DDTP and other federal agencies.

·  Prepares other reports as needed such as diabetes prevalence, childhood obesity, and diabetic kidney disease.

·  Assists on other data projects as needed.

·  Works within a dynamic team environment.

 

Essential Qualifications:

·  Must have a bachelor’s or master’s of science degree in Biostatistics or equivalent.

·  Minimum 6 years of experience of statistical analysis, Statistical Analysts Software (SAS) programming, data management, data presentation and data report creation including data cleaning and segmentation. Preference for 5 years of experience with federated database systems.

·  Proficient at calculating national, area and local data elements, including diabetes prevalence, clinical process and outcome measures, and other public health and performance measures.

·  Experience working with AI/AN communities.

·  Experience and knowledge of diabetes care and prevention.
